"Dragons Love Tacos."

DRAGONS LOVE TACOS
Drama production based on children’s book

WHARTON, TEXAS – Dragons, tacos and math homework will take center stage for the Wharton County Junior College Drama Department’s “Dragons Love Tacos,” scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Horton Foote Theatre in the Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building on the Wharton campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Written by Ernie Nolan and based on a book by Adam Rubin and Daniel Salmieri, “Dragons Love Tacos” follows the adventures of a young boy who has grown frustrated over his math homework and seeks solace from the TV. After coming across a unique “Dragonology” documentary, the boy (accompanied by his dog) soon finds his home the location for dragons intent upon having a taco party. Getting the house back in order before mom returns will prove to be quite the challenge.

WCJC Drama Instructor Greg McLarty said he wanted to do something new and refreshing.

“After doing a number of fairytale plays, I wanted to switch gears and try something different,” he said. “I came across this popular children’s story and it’s delightful, silly fun from start to finish.”
